[عكس] العَكْسُ: أن تشدَّ حبلاً في خَطْمِ البعير إلى رسغ يديه ليذلَّ ; واسم ذلك الحبل العِكاسُ. يقال: دون ذلك الأمر عِكاسٌ ومِكاسٌ. والعَكْسُ: ردُّك آخر الشئ إلى أوله. ومنه عكس " البلية " عند القبر، لانهم كانوا يربطونها معكوسة الرأس إلى ما يلى كلكلها وبطنها، ويقال إلى مؤخرها مما يلى ظهرها ويتركونها على تلك الحال حتى تموت. والعكيس: لبن يُصبُّ على مرق كائناً ما كان تقول منه: عَكَسْتُ أعْكِسُ عكسا. وكذلك الاعتكاس. والعكيس أيضا من اللبن: الحليب تُصبُّ عليه الاهالة فيشرب. قال الراجز: جفؤك ذا قدرك للضيفان * جفئا على الرغفان في الجفان * خير من العكيس بالالبان والعكيس: القضيب من الحَبَلَةِ يُعكسُ تحت الأرض إلى موضع آخر.
