و ف ض: (أَوْفَضَ) وَ (اسْتَوْفَضَ) أَسْرَعَ، وَمِنْهُ قَوْلُهُ - تَعَالَى -: {كَأَنَّهُمْ إِلَى نُصُبٍ يُوفِضُونَ} [المعارج: 43] ، وَ (الْأَوْفَاضُ) الْفِرَقُ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَالْأَخْلَاطُ مِنْ قَبَائِلَ شَتَّى كَأَصْحَابِ الصُّفَّةِ، وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ: «أَنَّهُ أَمَرَ بِصَدَقَةٍ أَنْ تُوضَعَ فِي الْأَوْفَاضِ» .
