[وكن] الوَكْنُ بالفتح: عُشُّ الطائر في جبلٍ أو جدارٍ. والمَوْكِنُ مثله. الاصمعي: الوكن: مأوى الطائر في غير عشّ. والوَكْرُ بالراء: ما كان في عشٍّ. أبو عمرو: الوُكْنَةُ والأُكْنَةُ بالضم: مواقع الطير حيثُما وقعت ; والجمع وُكْنانٌ، ووكنات ووكن، كما قلناه في جمع ركبة. وتقول: وكن الطائر بيضه يَكِنُهُ وَكْناً، أي حَضَنَهُ. وتَوَكَّنَ، أي تمكَّنَ. والواكِنُ: الجالس. قال عمرو بن شأس وذكَرَ نساءً: ومِنْ ظُعُنٍ كالدَوْمِ أشرَفَ فوقها * ظباءُ السُلَيِّ واكِناتٍ على الخَمْلِ * أي جالسات على الطنافس التي وَطَّأْنَ بها الهوادج. والسُلَيُّ: اسم موضع. ونصب " واكنات " على الحال.
