[بغر] بَغَرَ النجمُ يَبْغُرُ بُغوراً، أي سقط وهاجَ بالمطر. يعني بالنجم الثريَّا. والبَغْرَةُ: الدُفعةُ من المطر الشديد. تقول منه: بُغِرَت الأرضُ. والبَغَرُ بالتحريك: داءٌ وعطشٌ. قال الاصمعي: هو عطش يأخذه الإبل فتشربُ فلا تروى، وتمرض عنه فتموت. قال الشاعر : فقُلْتُ ما هو إلاَّ الشامُ تَرْكَبُهُ * كأَنَّمَا الموتُ في أَجْنادِهِ البَغَرُ - تقول منه: بغر بالكسر. وعير رجل من قريش فقيل له: مات أبوك بشما، وماتت أمك بغرا! ويقال: تفرَّقتْ إبلُه شِغَرَ بَغَرَ، إذا تفرقت في كل وجه.
