[شعف] الشَعَفَةُ بالتحريك: رأسُ الجبل، والجمع شَعَفٌ وشُعوفٌ وشِعافٌ وشَعَفاتٌ، وهي رءوس الجِبال. ورجلٌ أصهبُ الشِعافِ، يراد به شعر رأسه. وما على رأسِه إلا شُعَيْفاتٌ، أي شُعَيرات من الذؤابة، يقال لذؤابة الغلام: شعفة. والشنعاف: رأس الجبل، وكذلك الشُنْعوفُ. ويقال للرجل الطويل: شِنْعافٌ، والنون زائدة. وشعفه الحب، أي أحرق قلبه، وقال أبو زيد: أمرضه. وقد شُعِفَ بكذا فهو مَشْعوفٌ. وقرأ الحسن: {قد شَعَفَها حُبّاً} قال: بَطَنَها حُبّاً. وشَعَفْتُ البعير بالقَطِران، إذا طليتَه به. وشعفين: موضع. وفى المثل : " لكن بشعفين كنت جدودا " قاله رجل التقط منبوذة ورآها يوما تلاعب أترابها وتمشى على أربع وتقول: احلبوني فإنى خلفة.
