الحور: التردد بالذات أو بالفكر. ومنه حديث "اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الحور بعد الكور" ، أي التردد في الأمر بعد المضي فيه. أو من نقصان تردد في الحال بعد الزيادة فيها. والمحاورة والحوار المواردة في الكلام ومنه التحاور والحور بالتحريك ظهور قليل من البياض في العين من بين السواد. واحورت عينه وذلك نهاية الحسن من العين. والحواريون: أنصار عيسى سموا به لأنهم كانوا يطهرون نفس الناس بافدتهم العلم والحكمة، وإنما قيل كانوا قصارين على التمثيل والتشبيه، وإنما قالوا كانوا صيادين لاصطيادهم النفوس من الحيرة وقودهم إلى الحق.
