[دجا] الدُجى: الظلمة. يقال: دَجا الليل يَدْجو دُجُوَّاً. وليلةٌ داجِيَةٌ. وكذا أَدْجى الليلُ وتَدَجَّى. ودَياجي الليل: حنادسُه، كأنّه جمع دَيْجاةٍ. قال الأصمعيّ: دَجا الليل إنّما هو ألبس كل شئ، وليس هو من الظُلمة. قال: ومنه قولهم: دَجا الإسلامُ، أي قويَ وألبس كل شئ. والدجى: جمع دُجْيَةٍ بالضم، وهي قتْرة الصائد، والظُلْمة أيضاً. وإنّه لفي عيشٍ داجٍ، كأنَّه يُراد به الخفض. (*) والمُداجاةُ: المداراةُ. يقال: داجَيْتُهُ، إذا داريتَه، كأنَّك ساترتَه العداوة. قال قعنب ابن أم صاحب: كل يُداجى على البغضاء صاحبه ولن أُعالِنَهُمْ إلاّ بما علَنوا وذكر أبو عمروٍ أنَّ المُداجاةَ أيضاً المنع بين الشدة والارخاء.
